Honduras

Honduras is home of beautiful landscapes and amazing bays. It is becoming a popular destination for adventure and vacations. Because of this tipping is becoming a bit more common. Use our guide below to figure out when you should tip and when you shouldn’t on your travels through Honduras.

Taxis Taxis: Tipping a taxi driver isn’t expected, though rounding up with even change does make things easier.

Hotels Hotels: If the bell boy was to handle your baggage then you should give him about $1 a bag. You should also aim to tip the maid $1 a night. This is in upscale hotels though, you likely won’t have a bell boy in mid range hotels.

Restaurants Restaurants: In high end restaurants a tip of 10% will often be added. If service is included you will see the word “propina” or “servico” on the bill. For low end restaurants a tip isn’t required however rounding up is a nice gesture.

Bars Bars: Like restaurants you should look for the word “propina” or “servico” if this isn’t included then you could round up the total if the service was good. Otherwise it isn’t required.

Other Other: You should expect to tip tour guides if you go on a tour. You should give local guides $2-3 for a small tour. If you are doing a full day your then its $5-10 per person for the guide and half that for the driver. Also, if taking pictures of the locals they will expect a donation of $.50-1.
