Sweden is an amazing place for outdoor travels. It is home to amazing hikes, beautiful views, old towns and amazing wild life. While it can be expensive it isn’t a place to pass up! Tipping goes both ways in Sweden and can be a bit confusing at first. Use our guide below to relax and enjoy your holiday in Sweden!
Taxis: You can round up the fare and leave the change as a tip if you enjoyed the ride, but its not expected!
Hotels: A service charge is included in the price so there is no need to tip at hotels in Sweden.
Restaurants: Almost always a service charge is included in the bill. However, many will round up the bill or leave the small change.
Bars: Like restaurants, tipping a bar tender isn’t expected. You could round up and leave the small change.
Other: Tipping isn’t expected in Sweden, but more often then not people will round up the bill or leave the change if they had a good experience!
Im from Sweden and I never tip. Not bartenders (who does not expect it), nor taxi drivers who does not expect it either.
Some people tip restaurants but that’s max round up the bill. I don’t tip ever and it’s not considered rude anywhere.
Larger companies may be expected to tip if waiter served for hours but shouldn’t expect either.
Thanks Robin! I agree! I was just there a few months ago again. I’ve adjusted this post a bit more to reflect that.
Happy Tipping!
Thanks that looks much better.
I’ve been traveling 15 countries so far this year and usually i end up coming here to check for tipping statuses.
Thanks and have a nice day
Thanks Robin! Glad to hear! Just getting back from Costa Rica once again and need to make some more tweaks! If you notice anything off just comment on it and I can update it! Things change over the years as traveling becomes much easier! 🙂
Cheers & Happy Tipping!
