You should know that Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in the world, however it is home to some of the friendliest people as well. Taxis: Tipping taxi drivers in Burkina Faso is expected, you should aim to tip 10-15%
Hotels: Tipping in hotels is common and is expected. You should tip a few hundred XOF to the bell boy and leave the maid a few thousand XOF depending on length of stay.
Restaurants: Service charge is included at 10-15% so no need to tip. If you felt service was exceptional then you can round up.
Bars: Tipping bartenders in Burkina Faso isn’t expected. A service charge is included in the price, but round up if the service was exceptional.
Other: You will need to tip your guide if you go on a tour. You should aim to tip 5-10% of the price depending on the tour length and quality. You may also encounter children whom will guard your possessions. They too will request a tip, and it will be expected to give one.
